AC500 / S500 | Hot-swap spring-terminal base

ABB TU532-H Hot-Swap AC and Relay I/O Terminal Unit

A hot-swap-designated spring-terminal unit for compatible 120/230 V AC and relay I/O modules, subject to ABB service conditions.

BrandABB
ModelTU532-H
Product TypeAC500 Hot-Swap I/O Terminal Unit
01

Overview

TU532-H is the hot-swap version of ABB's spring-terminal base for compatible AC-voltage and relay I/O modules. The white product marking identifies the hot-swap-capable terminal-unit construction within the supported AC500 and S500 arrangement.

The base retains forty field terminals and provides four groups for up to thirty-two module-defined channels. Hot-swap capability applies only when the inserted I/O module, hardware index and system configuration also meet the documented conditions.

Features

  • The H designation separates this hot-swap base from the standard TU532 product.
  • Spring terminals retain the installed field conductors while a compatible I/O module is exchanged under the approved procedure.
  • Two module locks must fully engage before the associated load circuits are returned to operation.
  • Four terminal groups keep the module-defined signal allocation organized for service work.
  • The field base supports horizontal or vertical installation when ABB clearance and grounding requirements are followed.
04

Applications

  • Maintenance-sensitive AC500 and S500 I/O stations where the selected I/O module explicitly supports hot swap.
  • AC and relay signal groups that must preserve terminal wiring during a compatible electronics-module exchange.
  • Industrial control panels using spring-clamp conductors and documented isolation procedures.
  • Service strategies that require clear separation between the terminal base, plug-in module and live load circuits.
05

Lifecycle

  • Keep order code 1SAP215100R0001 and the H suffix together; TU532 and TU532-H are not the same service item.
  • Before hot swap, remove output load current and switch off I/O voltages above SELV or PELV as required by ABB instructions.
  • Hot swap applies to supported I/O modules, not to processor or communication modules mounted elsewhere in the station.
  • After insertion, confirm both snap-fits are locked before reconnecting loads or higher I/O voltages.

FAQ

What distinguishes TU532-H from TU532?

TU532-H is the designated hot-swap terminal unit; TU532 is the standard spring-terminal base.

Can any ABB module be exchanged live on this base?

No. The exact I/O module, hardware index and bus-master configuration must support the approved hot-swap function.

May a loaded output remain energized during exchange?

No. ABB requires outputs to be free of load, and higher I/O voltages must be switched off under the specified conditions.

How is the hot-swap terminal unit visually identified?

The designated unit uses a white border marking.

When can field power be restored?

Only after the replacement I/O module is fully seated and both mechanical locks are engaged.

Does the base use screw or spring terminals?

TU532-H uses spring terminals.
