The 1747-DCM is a Direct Communication Module in the Allen‑Bradley SLC 500 PLC family, designed 

to connect an SLC 500 controller (fixed or modular) to a supervisory PLC or other intelligent controller 

via the Remote I/O (RIO) link. This enables a distributed control system in which multiple SLC controllers 

and remote I/O devices can exchange data over a single RIO network — effectively turning the DCM into 

a remote I/O adapter that communicates with a master RIO scanner.
