Software and Applications

PanelView Plus terminals are configured with FactoryTalk View Machine Edition Station applications. Rockwell Automation's migration guidance states that PanelView Plus applications at version 3.2 or later can be migrated to PanelView Plus 7 terminals. The application should be backed up, converted in a supported FactoryTalk View Studio environment, validated for the destination firmware, and functionally tested before production use.

Typical uses include operator control and monitoring, machine status and diagnostics, alarm and event display, production data entry, and visualization for EtherNet/IP-connected automation systems.

Lifecycle and Discontinuation

Rockwell Automation's product lifecycle information identifies 2711P-T10C4D8 as the direct catalog conversion for 2711P-T10C4D1. Because 2711P-T10C4D8 is also discontinued, its engineering replacement is 2711P-T10C22D9P.

Replacement Assessment

Catalog Number Manufacturer Position Replacement Level Key Considerations
2711P-T10C4D8 Direct catalog conversion; discontinued December 30, 2021 Historical direct conversion Not the current active choice.
2711P-T10C22D9P Engineering replacement; Active / Preferred Current recommended migration path Not a completely identical, no-change replacement. Mechanical, communications, display, firmware, and application review are required.
2711P-T10C21D8S PanelView Plus 7 Standard option Alternative only where Standard limits are acceptable Maximum 100 screens, 500 alarms and one controller; Ethernet, touch and DC configuration. The Performance adapter plate is not specified for this Standard terminal.

Migration Requirements for the Current Replacement

Mechanical installation
Use Rockwell Automation adapter plate 2711P-RAAT10 when a drop-in installation of the PanelView Plus 7 Performance terminal is required. Confirm enclosure depth, mounting clearance and environmental requirements.
Communications
PanelView Plus 7 terminals use Ethernet communication. Applications that currently depend on the 2711P-T10C4D1 RS-232 port must be redesigned for Ethernet communication or provided with an engineered external conversion solution.
Display and graphics
The display resolution changes from 640 × 480 to 800 × 600. Review every display, popup, object position, font, bitmap and navigation element; resize or reposition items as needed.
Application conversion
PanelView Plus applications version 3.2 and later are supported by the migration path. Back up the source project, convert it with a supported FactoryTalk View Studio version, select compatible destination firmware, and validate communications, alarms, recipes, trends, security and macros.
Commissioning
This is not a guaranteed plug-and-play replacement. Confirm power, wiring, network architecture, controller shortcuts, peripherals and regulatory requirements, then perform offline testing and controlled on-machine commissioning.
Selection note: Final replacement selection must be based on the installed terminal's complete catalog configuration, application, communications, firmware, mounting and regulatory requirements.
