EL2904 is a Beckhoff TwinSAFE output terminal for safety-related actuators such as contactors and relays. A TwinSAFE Logic-capable component controls the outputs through Safety over EtherCAT, and the terminal enters the safe state when it detects a relevant fault.

Configurable output testing, current measurement and optional standard-output interaction support different safety architectures. The final configuration must be validated as part of the machine safety function.

• Integrated current measurement supports output diagnostics when enabled in the safety configuration.
• Channel testing can detect wiring faults such as cross-circuits under the engineered load conditions.
• Optional standard outputs can be internally ANDed with the safe release for responsive machine control.
• Safety parameters are transferred from the TwinSAFE logic after a like-for-like terminal exchange.

• Connect only 24 V DC actuators and loads covered by the validated EL2904 output design.
• Coordinate test pulses, load current and contactor or relay behavior with the safety application.
• Use the correct EtherCAT station, TwinSAFE logic and SELV/PELV power architecture.

• Save the TwinSAFE project and identify every output load before changing the terminal.
• Check for welded contacts, short circuits or wiring faults that could damage a replacement.
• Reload the safety parameters, prove the safe state and complete the documented commissioning test.
