Bently Nevada 3500/20 Rack Interface Module
The primary configuration and machinery-information interface for a 3500 rack, installed in slot 1 beside the power supplies.
Product Identification
Bently Nevada 3500/20 is the Rack Interface Module for the 3500 system. It uses the Bently Nevada proprietary protocol to configure the rack and retrieve machinery information and must be installed in slot 1 next to the power supplies.
One RIM is required per rack. The standard module supports normal monitoring applications, while TMR systems require the TMR RIM execution with monitor-channel comparison.
The RIM provides rack-level functions but is not part of the critical monitoring path. I/O choice, communications standard, rack address, configuration key state and host cabling define the installed interface.

Functions
Rack configuration gateway
Provides local and remote access for rack configuration and machinery information.
System-level controls
Supports rack reset, Trip Multiply, alarm inhibit and configuration key control.
Communication routing
Works with RS232/RS422, modem or data-manager I/O variants and compatible external processors.
TMR comparison option
The TMR version compares three monitor outputs and records an event when one departs from the configured tolerance.
Applications
Standard 3500 rack interface
Primary host and configuration connection for a conventional machinery-protection rack.
TMR rack supervision
Monitor comparison and voting support when the TMR RIM execution is selected.
Legacy communications integration
Connection to compatible TDXnet, TDIX or DDIX external processors.
Lifecycle
Record 3500/20 order option, rack address, front and rear modules, key position, host software and cable type.
Archive the rack configuration and exchange the RIM with its correct I/O module under the approved procedure.
Verify CONFIG OK, TX/RX, rack address, host access, alarm/reset contacts and all system events.

FAQ
Where must 3500/20 be installed?
It belongs in slot 1 of the 3500 rack, immediately beside the power supplies.
Does 3500/20 participate in the critical monitoring path?
No. It provides rack-wide interface functions but the manufacturer states it does not affect normal operation of the critical monitoring path.
When is the TMR version of 3500/20 required?
Use the TMR RIM for a Triple Modular Redundant 3500 configuration that requires monitor-channel comparison.
What should accompany a 3500/20 enquiry?
Send the full order code, main and rear I/O labels, rack address, communications type, host software, cable records and rack configuration backup.
How is 3500/20 accepted after replacement?
Confirm valid configuration, host communication, correct address, reset and inhibit functions, OK relay behavior and event logging.
