Bently Nevada 3500/42M-SIL2-09-01 Proximitor Seismic Monitor
A four-channel 3500/42M monitoring configuration with internally terminated Prox/Velomitor I/O and cNRTLus approval selection.
Key Information
3500/42M is a four-channel Proximitor Seismic Monitor that accepts proximity, velocity or acceleration signals. It conditions each selected input and compares the measured value with user-programmable alarm setpoints for machinery protection.
In the submitted configuration, option 09 identifies the 140471-01 Prox/Velom I/O Module with internal terminations, and option 01 identifies the cNRTLus Class I, Division 2 approval selection. The SIL2 designation requires the approved 3500 safety configuration and associated functional-safety documentation; it is not a standalone sensor-channel claim.
Functions
- Processes up to four channels from compatible proximity, Velomitor or acceleration transducers.
- Generates alert and danger status by comparing conditioned signals with configured setpoints.
- Supports measurement modes such as radial vibration, thrust position, eccentricity and seismic vibration when configured with the correct transducer and channel type.
- Communicates status and measured values through the 3500 rack infrastructure.
- Supports safety-system use up to SIL 2 only as part of the certified 3500 configuration and prescribed lifecycle controls.

Installation
- Verify the exact 140471-01 I/O module and internal-termination wiring before installing the monitor.
- Configure each channel for its actual transducer family, measurement type and full-scale range.
- For a safety instrumented function, follow the applicable 3500 functional-safety manual, proof-test interval and certified hardware configuration.
- Confirm rack software versions meet the documented minimums before commissioning.
- Check alert, danger, bypass and channel behavior during the machinery-protection system test.
Lifecycle
- Keep the complete monitor, I/O, approval and safety configuration in the machine protection file.
- Do not substitute a different I/O option solely because the front monitor module appears identical.
- Retain channel configuration and alarm setpoints before replacement.
- Safety-related changes require configuration control, validation and proof testing under the site safety lifecycle.
