01
PRODUCT DOSSIER

Product Overview

3500/50 is the Bently Nevada tachometer monitor used in the 3500 machinery protection rack for speed and rotation-state measurements. The current 3500/50M documentation describes the maintained module generation and its compatible I/O choices.

Each channel can accept a compatible proximity-transducer signal or magnetic pickup and can be configured for speed, rotor acceleration, reverse rotation or zero-speed behavior. The selected rear I/O establishes internal, external, barrier or TMR field wiring.

The tachometer provides machine operating information but is not the dedicated overspeed detection system. Where overspeed shutdown is required, that independent protection architecture must remain documented and tested.

PUBLISHED CHARACTERISTICS

Performance

SIGNAL

Speed measurement

Processes supported transducer signals into configured rotational-speed values.

TRANSFER

Acceleration and zero-speed logic

Supports rate-of-change and turning-gear state functions within the tachometer configuration.

CONTROL

Reverse-rotation indication

Uses the approved sensor arrangement and configuration to determine direction state.

EVIDENCE

Rack integration

Works with the selected rear I/O and 3500 configuration software.

SYSTEM PATH

System Integration

CAPTURE

Establish the measurement plan

Record sensor type, teeth or target geometry, polarity, expected speed range and direction logic.

MATCH

Match the rear I/O

Confirm internal, external, barrier or TMR termination before moving any field conductors.

PROVE

Test operating states

Simulate or safely prove normal speed, zero speed, acceleration and reverse rotation required by the machine plan.

05
FIELD CONTEXT

Applications

Rotating speed indication

Monitoring shaft speed on turbines, compressors, pumps and other machinery.

Turning-gear supervision

Detecting zero-speed and low-speed states used by operating procedures.

Direction monitoring

Supporting reverse-rotation indication with the approved sensing arrangement.

FAQ

QUESTION 01

What must be clarified when the label shows 3500/50 rather than 3500/50M?

Provide the complete front and rear module labels and rack revision so the installed generation and spare architecture can be verified.

QUESTION 02

Can 3500/50 serve as the plant overspeed trip?

No. Bently Nevada identifies the tachometer as separate from the dedicated overspeed protection system.

QUESTION 03

Which rear I/O should be ordered for 3500/50?

Select it from the actual field-wiring architecture: internal, external, barrier or TMR termination.

QUESTION 04

What sensor information belongs with a 3500/50 enquiry?

Include probe or pickup part numbers, target geometry, channel range, polarity, slot and clear termination photographs.

QUESTION 05

How is 3500/50 accepted after replacement?

Verify configured speed, zero-speed state, acceleration, direction logic, alarms and every required output or recorder path.
