Conditions up to four seismic-transducer signals for reciprocating machinery protection.
Key Information
3500/70M is a four-channel Bently Nevada monitor for reciprocating-compressor machinery protection. It accepts seismic transducer signals, conditions the measurements and compares them with programmable alarm setpoints.
Channels are programmed in pairs and can provide Impulse Acceleration, Acceleration 2, Reciprocating Velocity or Low-Frequency Reciprocating Velocity functions, with up to two functions at a time.
The monitor is configured through 3500 Rack Configuration Software and provides front-panel status indication, buffered outputs and recorder-output capability.
Functions
Supports paired-channel programming across the documented acceleration and velocity functions.
Compares each configured measurement with programmable alarms and communicates essential machine information.
Provides protected buffered outputs and 4–20 mA recorder interfaces for approved diagnostic and recording paths.
Specifications
Installation
- Export the rack configuration and record every channel function, range, setpoint and transducer type.
- Photograph the monitor and I/O module labels, rack slot and field-terminal assignments.
- Confirm the correct input and recorder wiring before inserting the replacement monitor.
- Verify OK status, channel readings, buffered outputs, recorder loops, alarms and system relay logic.
Lifecycle
- Archive the 3500 Rack Configuration file and a channel-by-channel commissioning record.
- Track monitor, I/O and transducer identities as a single configured protection chain.
- Inspect connectors and field wiring during rack outages rather than replacing the monitor on diagnostics alone.
- Review approved migration guidance before changing the installed monitor or I/O execution.

FAQ
What configuration evidence should accompany a 3500/70M enquiry?
Provide the monitor and I/O labels, rack slot, transducer models, channel-function assignments, ranges, setpoints and configuration backup.
Can all four 3500/70M channels use different functions?
The channels are programmed in pairs, so the approved configuration must preserve the documented paired-channel arrangement.
What should be checked if a 3500/70M channel is not OK?
Review the transducer type, field wiring, input termination, configuration, sensor condition and rack diagnostics before replacing hardware.
How should recorder outputs be commissioned on 3500/70M?
Verify the configured range, loop polarity, load resistance, receiving-device scaling and response against a controlled test.
What proves a replacement 3500/70M is ready for protection service?
Confirm exact hardware identity, clean OK status, correct channel functions, stable measurements and passed alarm, relay and recorder tests.
