Emerson A6500-CC AMS 6500 ATG System Communication Card
The rack communication card that reads AMS 6500 ATG module data and serves Modbus or OPC UA interfaces.
Overview
A6500-CC is the Emerson AMS 6500 ATG System Communication Card. It reads parameters from protection modules and outputs data through Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU and/or OPC UA to control and third-party systems.
The one-slot card also supports rack configuration, local graphical displays, SNTP time synchronization and an SD card used by AMS 6500 ATG Prediction functions. Two communication cards can be used for a redundant data path.

Provides rack configuration access and local-display support.
Includes self-monitoring of hardware, power input and internal temperature.
Applications
- Integration of AMS 6500 ATG machinery-protection data with DeltaV, Ovation or third-party systems.
- Redundant communication paths for critical steam, gas, compressor and hydro-turbomachinery monitoring.
- Local rack-display and prediction-data applications using the documented system architecture.
Lifecycle
- Export the communication-card configuration, register map, network settings and security record.
- Record rack type, communication slot, companion card, firmware and connected systems.
- Verify IP addresses, serial settings, OPC UA clients, SNTP and display connections before replacement.
- After installation, test each configured data path, time synchronization, rack polling and redundancy behavior.
FAQ
Can A6500-CC run Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU at the same time?
The card supports multiple configured data outputs and redundant-path use; confirm the exact rack configuration and client plan before commissioning.
What network information should accompany an enquiry for A6500-CC?
Provide rack type and slot, firmware, IP settings, serial parameters, OPC UA use, register map and any redundant-card arrangement.
Why must the communication slot be checked for A6500-CC?
The card is installed in designated communication positions, and the rack layout determines the supported arrangement and redundancy plan.
What should be tested after replacing A6500-CC?
Verify module polling, Modbus clients, OPC UA sessions, serial links, SNTP, local displays and redundant switchover where configured.
How can a mismatched register map affect A6500-CC?
Communication may remain online while external tags read the wrong parameters, so the approved map must be compared before service release.
