Product Profile

A6500-RC is the Emerson AMS 6500 ATG System Relay Card. It uses 66 digital inputs, configurable Boolean logic and time delays to drive 16 SPDT relay outputs for machinery-protection annunciation, interlock or trip service.

The 3U, two-slot module is hot-swappable and used with AMS 6500 ATG racks. Each relay path must be controlled through the saved logic configuration and final field-circuit record.

System Role

01

Combines rack alarm inputs into configurable Boolean logic networks.

02

Provides sixteen SPDT relay outputs for final annunciation, interlock or trip circuits.

03

Supports time-delay and output-selection functions through graphical configuration software.

04

Allows relay state and module health to be checked from front-panel indications.

04

Compatibility

  • Confirm the A6500 rack type, designated relay slot and rear connector arrangement.
  • Export all logic expressions, delays, input sources and output assignments.
  • Record relay load voltage, current, suppression and final field device for every channel.
  • Use the documented redundant-relay rack when the application requires relay-card redundancy.
05

Applications

  • Machinery-protection relay logic for steam turbines, gas turbines, compressors and hydro machinery.
  • Common alarm, shutdown and interlock functions derived from AMS 6500 ATG protection channels.
  • Redundant relay service when installed in the documented rack architecture.

FAQ

01

What must be backed up before replacing A6500-RC?

Save all input assignments, Boolean expressions, time delays, relay destinations, passwords and active bypass records.

02

Can A6500-RC be installed in any A6500 rack slot?

No. Confirm the rack type and designated relay position from the Emerson rack documentation.

03

What field information is needed to quote A6500-RC?

Provide rack and slot labels, rear connector, each relay load, contact use, logic file and final interlock or trip drawing.

04

Why must every relay path be function-tested after replacing A6500-RC?

Correct module diagnostics do not prove the field contact, wiring and final shutdown device operate as intended.

05

How should redundant A6500-RC service be planned?

Identify the redundant rack arrangement, active logic, bypass strategy and controlled transfer test before disturbing either card.
