AMS 6500 ATG | TEMPERATURE AND PROCESS | FOUR CHANNELS

Emerson A6500-TP Temperature / Process Card

A four-channel 3U protection card for RTD, thermocouple and standard process signals in the AMS 6500 ATG system.

ModelA6500-TP
Product TypeAMS 6500 ATG Temperature / Process Card
01

Product Overview

A6500-TP is the Temperature / Process Card for the Emerson AMS 6500 ATG Machine Protection System. Four independently configurable measuring channels accept RTDs, thermocouples or standard process signals.

The card also provides two digital inputs, six configurable digital outputs and four isolated 0/4–20 mA analog outputs. It operates in an A6500-SR system rack and sends measured values over the internal RS-485 bus to an A6500-CC communication card.

02

Performance

  • Measures temperature with two-, three- or four-wire RTDs.
  • Supports thermocouples with internal or external cold-junction compensation and as many as eight thermocouple sensors.
  • Accepts 0–1 V, 0–10 V and 0/4–20 mA process inputs.
  • Uses 24-bit analog-to-digital conversion and galvanic isolation between the four input channels.
  • Self-checking monitors hardware, supply, card temperature, sensor and cable conditions.

FAQ

What channel record is needed before ordering A6500-TP?

List each sensor or process-signal type, wiring method, range, cold-junction method, alarm assignment, analog output and digital output use.

Can A6500-TP mix RTD, thermocouple and process inputs on one card?

The four channels are independently configurable, but each channel must be engineered, wired and calibrated for its selected input type.

How does rack cooling affect A6500-TP operation?

The card is rated to 70 °C with forced cooling and to 55 °C without it, so cabinet airflow must match the intended ambient condition.

What companion hardware should be checked with A6500-TP?

Confirm the A6500-SR rack, terminal/wiring arrangement, A6500-CC communication card, power supplies and the configuration software record.

What acceptance testing is appropriate for A6500-TP?

Inject representative temperature and process signals, verify cold-junction or lead compensation, prove alarms and outputs, and check Modbus values through the communication card.
