Emerson AMS EZ1000 Eddy Current Sensor Converter

A configurable converter that conditions supported eddy-current sensor signals for machinery protection and condition monitoring systems.

BrandEmerson
ModelEZ1000
Product TypeAMS EZ 1000 Eddy Current Sensor Converter

Product Profile

EZ1000 is the standard Emerson AMS EZ 1000 converter for supported eddy-current sensors. It is configured and calibrated through AMS Machine Studio and supplies the conditioned output used by the connected measurement or protection system.

The plain EZ1000 variant must not be confused with EZ1000-EX, EZ1000-SIS or EZ1000-SIS-EX. Hardware revision, serial number, firmware, connected sensor family and calibration method all affect a controlled replacement.

System Role

01

Converts the connected eddy-current sensor signal into a conditioned measurement output.

02

Stores sensor, target material, measuring range and calibration-related configuration.

03

Provides USB access for setup, backup, diagnostics and firmware maintenance.

04

Links legacy and current supported sensor families to suitable machinery monitoring hardware.

04

Compatibility

  • Confirm the exact EZ1000 variant, hardware revision, serial-number range and firmware.
  • Verify the sensor model, cable length, target material and required firmware support.
  • Check the measuring amplifier, field housing, barriers or isolators and hazardous-area approvals as applicable.
  • Retain the saved configuration and reusable calibration data before exchanging the converter.
05

Applications

  • Radial vibration, axial position and other non-contact shaft measurements on rotating machinery.
  • Migration or replacement projects using supported EZ, BN 33010x or PR 642x sensor families.
  • Machinery protection and condition monitoring chains that require a configurable eddy-current converter.

FAQ

Why must the full variant be checked when ordering EZ1000?

The standard, EX and SIS versions have different safety and approval boundaries even though the family name is similar.

What should be saved before replacing EZ1000?

Reload and save the configuration and calibration data through AMS Machine Studio whenever the existing converter remains readable.

Can every PR 642x sensor be connected to EZ1000?

No. Support is model- and firmware-dependent; compare the exact sensor code and converter firmware with the documented list.

What should be tested after an EZ1000 converter exchange?

Verify configuration, calibration, linearity across the configured range, OK behavior and the connected monitoring channel.

When is a hardware fault likely not the real EZ1000 problem?

Incorrect sensor code, target material, cable length, calibration, field wiring or barrier behavior can produce measurement faults without a failed converter.
