Product Overview

IC695RMX128 is the PACSystems RX3i Redundant Memory Xchange module used for high-availability CPU synchronization or reflective-memory networking. The module provides 128 MB of SDRAM and connects nodes through multimode-fiber LC interfaces.

In an RX3i hot-standby system, one or two IC695RMX128 modules can carry the redundancy link for IC695CRU320 controllers. When configured for general memory exchange, the module supports a fiber ring with network diagnostics, interrupts and deterministic shared data.

02

Performance

  • Provides 128 MB of shared SDRAM for reflective-memory exchange.
  • Supports multimode fiber runs up to 300 m between nodes under the documented optical design.
  • Uses dynamic packet sizes from 4 to 68 bytes in CMX128-compatible operation.
  • Supports up to 256 network nodes in the documented reflective-memory mode.
  • Provides network-error detection, programmable interrupts and optional redundant-transfer operation.

System Integration

  • Export the RMX configuration, node ID, memory offset, interrupt map, redundancy role and CPU transfer list.
  • Record both optical ports, fiber labels, route, direction and link diagnostics before removal.
  • Inspect and clean LC connectors with approved fiber procedures; never view an energized fiber directly.
  • Restore the exact node and memory configuration before reconnecting the ring.
  • Verify ring continuity, error counters, memory exchange, CPU synchronization and approved switchover behavior.
05

Applications

  • Primary and secondary synchronization links for RX3i hot-standby controllers.
  • Deterministic shared-memory exchange among RX3i nodes.
  • High-availability process and machine-control architectures.
  • Legacy CMX128-compatible applications that use the documented RMX operating mode.

FAQ

What distinguishes an IC695RMX128 redundancy link from a general reflective-memory node?

The hardware can serve different roles; capture its configured mode, node settings, CPU transfer list and ring topology before ordering or replacing it.

What fiber details should accompany an IC695RMX128 quotation?

Provide LC connector type, multimode fiber specification, route length, patching, node direction, spare strands and any hub or redundant-ring equipment.

Can IC695RMX128 be replaced without interrupting a redundant controller pair?

Only through the approved hot-standby procedure after confirming the partner link and controller are healthy and the process can tolerate the temporary topology.

How should IC695RMX128 optical faults be investigated?

Check connector cleanliness, bend radius, polarity, fiber continuity, node power, ring direction and error counters before condemning the module.

What proves IC695RMX128 is ready after installation?

Verify node configuration, link status, zero or stable error counters, expected memory exchange, controller synchronization and the site-approved redundancy test.
