Functions
The FIM4 architecture connects supported FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 segments to the Experion control environment, allowing field-device communication and control integration through the configured Experion system.
Fieldbus scheduling, device assignment, control strategy execution and diagnostics depend on the paired IOTA, controller release and project configuration.
Applications
Installed-base process automation systems using Honeywell Experion and FOUNDATION Fieldbus devices across continuous or batch operations.
Replacement work must preserve segment design, power conditioning, device addressing and the configuration validated for the installed Experion release.
Lifecycle
Honeywell announced the later CC-PFB402 FIM4 and CC-PFB802 FIM8 generation as replacements for CC-PFB401 and CC-PFB801. Honeywell stated that the older parts would remain for Experion servers operating at R400 or earlier.
Do not treat CC-PFB402 as a drop-in substitute without checking the Experion release, IOTA, firmware and migration guidance for the installed system.
Related Products
CC-PFB402 is the documented later four-link FIM4 family. CC-PFB801 and CC-PFB802 belong to eight-segment generations and are not interchangeable merely because they share the FIM product family.
