In the context of modern urban drainage and industrial pipeline network upgrades, accurate flow monitoring of large-diameter pipelines has always been a challenge for water management and industrial process control. Traditional insertion or orifice flow meters require water outages for installation, which not only affects production but is also susceptible to interference from pipe wall corrosion, scaling, and aging pipe materials, making it difficult to guarantee measurement accuracy. Emerson's Flexim clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter, with its non-contact measurement technology and industrial-grade reliability, provides a high-precision, low-maintenance, and long-term operational solution for sump pipes and large-diameter pipelines.
The Flexim flow meter features a clamp-on non-contact design, allowing direct mounting to the outer wall of the pipe without requiring water outages or pipe damage. This means that even buried pipelines laid years ago can be deployed for measurement without affecting other production units within the plant. During the renovation of aging, large-diameter pipelines in a petrochemical company's water collection well, Flexim flow meters were successfully installed, ensuring measurement continuity and data reliability even during partial pipeline submersion in the rainy season.
The Flexim clamp-on flow meter employs dual-path reflection and multi-path ultrasonic measurement technology. By calculating the time difference of ultrasonic wave propagation in the upstream and downstream directions, it achieves high-precision measurement of flow velocity and volumetric flow rate. It has a wide measurement range, covering flow velocities from ±0.01 to ±25 m/s, maintaining stable measurement even at low or full-scale flow rates. On-site commissioning data shows that signal strength and quality are superior to industry standards, and instantaneous volumetric flow rate is highly consistent with user experience values, ensuring data reliability.
The Flexim flow meter uses industrial-grade stainless steel guide rail clamps and an anti-vibration design, effectively resisting pipeline vibration and environmental interference. The IP68 protection rating ensures long-term operation in the submerged environment of the water collection well. Permanent solid-state coupling plates eliminate the need for periodic replacement of traditional coupling agents, significantly reducing operation and maintenance costs and enabling long-term stable operation with virtually zero maintenance workload.
Flexim flow meters support the FOUNDATION Fieldbus bus protocol, enabling real-time transmission of measurement data to SCADA or central control systems for pipeline network monitoring, historical data analysis, and alarm management. Management personnel can monitor pipeline flow status at any time, responding immediately to anomalies, providing reliable assurance for the safe operation of urban drainage and industrial pipeline networks.
