Key Information
2711P-RP8D is the processing and communication module for compatible PanelView Plus 6 terminals in the 700–1500 size range. It attaches behind a separately selected display module and runs the operator application for the assembled terminal.
The RP8D configuration uses isolated DC input power and the Windows CE 6.0 platform without extended features. It is a logic module rather than a complete HMI terminal or touch-display module.

Installation
- Remove power from the terminal before installing or removing the logic module, display module or communication module.
- Mate the logic module only with a compatible PanelView Plus 700–1500 display and secure the modular assembly as specified.
- Power the isolated DC terminal from a suitable 24 V DC SELV or PELV source and connect protective earth under the local wiring rules.
- Back up the Machine Edition application, communication settings and terminal configuration before exchanging the module.
- After assembly, verify firmware and application compatibility before restoring network control to the machine.

Lifecycle
- Rockwell Automation discontinued 2711P-RP8D on September 30, 2023 and identifies the replacement path as an engineering replacement.
- Do not substitute RP8A, RP8DK or RP9D solely because the mechanical family looks similar; power input, coating and extended-feature differences matter.
- Preserve the display-module catalog number, HMI application, firmware, network configuration and optional communication-module details during migration planning.
- A later PanelView platform may require changes to the panel assembly, project conversion and communications architecture.
