3/8-24 UNF ceramic-capped probe for aggressive front-end exposure

Bently Nevada 146054-34-20-02-05 3300 Ceramic-Capped Proximity Probe

A forward-mount ceramic-capped probe with standard ClickLoc cable, 34 bar pressure-seal rating and multiple approvals.

Product Profile

Bently Nevada 146054-34-20-02-05 is a 3/8-24 UNF ceramic-capped proximity probe without armor. Its option blocks identify a 3.4 in case, 2.0 m total length, standard miniature ClickLoc connector and CSA, ATEX and IECEx approvals.

The alumina cap and AISI 304 stainless-steel case protect the front end in aggressive chemical or high-pressure service. The rear is not sealed and must not be exposed to water, ammonia, ammonium hydroxide, hydrogen sulfide or other destructive environments.

System Role

Ceramic front cap resists aggressive front-end chemical exposure and is helium leak tested at the ceramic-to-metal interface.

The probe works with a compatible 3300 Proximitor sensor and extension cable as a complete measurement chain.

The ceramic-capped response curve is shifted relative to a standard 3300 XL probe and requires careful monitor configuration.

Gold-plated ClickLoc connectors use a finger-tight locking connection.

Compatibility & Service

  • Keep destructive liquids and gases away from the unsealed rear of the probe.
  • Gap the ceramic tip electrically and never use direct contact with the target as a setting method.
  • Confirm monitor configuration because the ceramic-capped probe curve differs from a standard 3300 XL probe.
  • After installation, verify gap, output range, polarity, channel alarms and leakage-control provisions.

Applications

  • Machinery monitoring in anhydrous-ammonia or extreme-pH processes where front-end corrosion is a concern.
  • Non-contact radial vibration or axial position measurement with a compatible 3300 system.
  • High-pressure front-end exposure within the published 34 bar seal rating.
  • Like-for-like service where the 3.4 in case, 2.0 m cable, connector and approvals are retained.

FAQ

Q01Why must the rear of 146054-34-20-02-05 remain protected?

The 146054 design seals the ceramic-to-metal front interface but has no rear fitting or stainless tubing, so destructive media can enter from the rear.

Q02Can a standard 3300 XL probe replace 146054-34-20-02-05 without monitor review?

No. The ceramic-capped response curve of 146054-34-20-02-05 is shifted, and the manufacturer warns that monitor configuration may require additional care or modification.

Q03How should the 146054-34-20-02-05 gap be set?

Set it electrically to the documented operating point and avoid direct mechanical contact with the target surface.

Q04What does connector option 02 provide on 146054-34-20-02-05?

It provides a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector with standard cable and no connector protector.

Q05Which records should be retained after replacing 146054-34-20-02-05?

Keep the complete model, companion extension cable and Proximitor identities, final gap voltage, monitor configuration and proof of the approved channel test.
