Pepperl+Fuchs KCD2-STC-Ex1 One-Channel SMART Transmitter Power Supply

A 12.5 mm one-channel isolated barrier for powering two-wire SMART transmitters and transferring 4–20 mA with bidirectional communication.

01

Product Overview

product overview

Pepperl+Fuchs KCD2-STC-Ex1 is a one-channel isolated barrier for supplying two-wire SMART transmitters or accepting two-wire SMART current sources in hazardous-area applications.

The device transfers the analog value to the safe side and supports bidirectional superimposed digital communication. DIP switches select 4–20 mA source, 4–20 mA sink or 1–5 V output operation.

The narrow 12.5 mm housing mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail and can receive 24 V DC from the Power Rail or its supply terminals.

System Integration

system integration
Confirm the exact Ex1 execution, certificate and loop entity parameters.

Record the required output mode and control-system input impedance.

Set the DIP switches before commissioning.

Wire the field, output and Power Rail or terminal supply using the documented terminal map.

Verify loop supply margin and 4–20 mA scaling.

Prove SMART communication and the required safe-state behavior before release.

05

Applications

applications

Suffix control

Keep the Ex1 suffix; non-Ex and dual-output versions have different selection boundaries.

Mode control

Record every DIP-switch position with the loop dossier.

Acceptance

Test analog transfer, communication and hazardous-area loop verification together.

FAQ

faq
Q01Why is the final “1” required in KCD2-STC-Ex1?

It identifies the documented one-channel Ex1 product; KCD2-STC-Ex is not the complete manufacturer model.

Q02Which output modes can KCD2-STC-Ex1 provide?

DIP switches select 4–20 mA source, 4–20 mA sink or 1–5 V source operation.

Q03What control-side information is needed for a KCD2-STC-Ex1 enquiry?

Provide the required output mode, input resistance, supply method, loop drawing and existing switch settings.

Q04Can KCD2-STC-Ex1 be chosen from the 4–20 mA range alone?

No. The hazardous-area approval, transmitter supply requirement, output mode and load must all be verified.

Q05What belongs in the KCD2-STC-Ex1 commissioning record?

Include entity verification, switch positions, loop supply margin, low/high current checks, SMART communication and final diagnostics.
