ABB AO561 AC500-eCo 2-Channel Analog Output Module
Two configurable voltage/current outputs extend compact AC500-eCo control stations.
Key Information
ABB AO561 is a compact S500-eCo analog output module with two configurable outputs in one group. Each channel can operate as a bipolar voltage output or a unipolar current output using minus 10 to plus 10 V, 0 to 20 mA or 4 to 20 mA. Standard hardware provides 12-bit resolution including sign, while version E0 or later provides 13-bit resolution including sign. The module uses a separate 11-pin terminal block and has no galvanic isolation between outputs, the I/O bus and the process supply.

Installation
- Fit the required removable 11-pin terminal block; ABB lists screw and spring terminal variants as separate items.
- Disconnect supply and process voltages before wiring or module replacement unless all documented hot-swap requirements are met.
- Route analog output wiring according to ABB shielding, grounding and equipotential-bonding guidance.
- Keep current-loop load resistance, including the cable, within 0 to 500 ohm and respect the voltage-output current limit.
- Configure unused outputs as Not used and select the exact voltage or current range for every active channel.
- Confirm the hardware version, then verify both output channels under their real field loads.
Lifecycle
- ABB lists article 1TNE968902R1201 in the Active lifecycle phase.
- The required 11-pin terminal block remains a separate ordering item.
- Record the hardware index because the documented resolution changes from 12 to 13 bits including sign at version E0.
- AO561 is not galvanically isolated and must not inherit isolation assumptions from AO522 or AO523.
- After replacement, restore output range, scaling and safe-state behavior before returning the driven equipment to operation.
