Key Information

CC-PAIM01 (Part No. 51405045-175) is a low-level analog input multiplexer module from Honeywell's Experion PKS Series C I/O family. It is specifically designed for high-accuracy temperature measurement, supporting thermocouple (TC) and RTD inputs across up to 64 fully isolated channels (in 16-channel increments).

The module functions as a Low-Level Multiplexer (LLMUX) I/O Processor, interfacing with Honeywell PMIO LLMUX FTAs (Field Termination Assemblies). Each FTA supports 16 channels of either TC/mV or RTD inputs, allowing flexible configuration to match the specific sensor mix required by the application.

The CC-PAIM01 is a critical component for process monitoring in industries such as refining, chemical processing, power generation, and pharmaceuticals, where precise temperature data is essential for safety and product quality.

64 channels Thermocouple / RTD Fully isolated LLMUX IOP PMIO FTA compatible
Key details
  • 64 isolated low-level input channels
  • Supports TC, RTD, and mV signals
  • 1 second scan rate (up to 64 channels/sec)
  • ±0.05% gain error
  • Requires CC-TAIM01 or compatible IOTA

Functions

Signal acquisition & processing

  • Low-level signal multiplexing — Acquires and conditions millivolt-level signals from thermocouples and RTDs, providing precise temperature data to the Experion PKS control system.
  • Cold junction compensation — Provides integrated cold junction reference (CJR) with ±1.0°C accuracy (0–50°C) to ensure accurate thermocouple measurements.
  • Open thermocouple detection (OTD) — Each conversion is qualified; guaranteed no-trip at ≤1000 Ω and guaranteed trip at ≥1500 Ω, enabling rapid fault identification.

Diagnostics & configuration

  • High channel isolation — Features channel-to-channel, channel-to-PM, and channel-to-power supply common isolation, eliminating ground loops and cross-channel interference.
  • Line frequency rejection — Fixed 50 Hz or 60 Hz line frequency integration with 60 dB min NMRR to filter out power line noise.
  • Remote cold junction capability — Supports remote CJR for applications requiring extended temperature monitoring.

Installation

Proper installation of the CC-PAIM01 module ensures reliable low-level signal acquisition and system stability.

Mounting & wiring guidelines

Mounting position Series C I/O rack with CC-TAIM01 or compatible IOTA
FTA connection PMIO LLMUX FTA (MU-TAMR04, TAMT04, TAMT14)
Field wiring Shielded twisted-pair cable with single-point grounding
Max cable distance 1000 feet (16 AWG, two twisted pairs per FTA)
Grounding Single-point ground for shield to avoid ground loops
ESD handling Required due to sensitive low-level signal circuitry
Cold junction sensor Must be correctly installed for TC accuracy
Installation notes:
  • Install the CC-PAIM01 in a clean, ventilated control cabinet (IP20) with ambient temperature within the specified operating range (0°C to +60°C).
  • The module handles millivolt-level signals; ensure proper cable shielding and single-point grounding to prevent EMI interference.
  • When using TC inputs, the cold junction sensor must be correctly placed and thermally coupled to the terminal block for accurate reference compensation.
  • For RTD inputs, use 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire configurations as supported by the FTA. Observe the 15 Ω max lead resistance specification.
  • If an OTD fault is tripped, verify sensor continuity before replacing the module.

Lifecycle

Discontinued / Legacy no longer in active production — limited availability

Product status: According to multiple sources, the CC-PAIM01 (51405045-175) has been discontinued by Honeywell. Only new surplus or tested refurbished units remain available through third‑party suppliers. The Series-C modular architecture is transitioning to newer universal I/O platforms.

Spare parts & support: Replacement units are limited to existing stock. Support is available through Honeywell's legacy support channels and authorized distributors, but long‑term availability is not guaranteed.

Replacement & migration:

Migration path from CC-PAIM01:
  • Current Series-C universal I/O modules integrate low-level multiplex functionality, but full sensor harness re-termination and Control Builder temperature logic revalidation is mandatory.
  • Multiplex scan timing and cold-junction compensation logic do not match for unmodified direct swap.
  • When migrating, plan for complete system revalidation including:
    • Sensor termination changes
    • Control Builder temperature logic verification
    • Cold junction compensation testing
  • For new installations, Honeywell recommends the current universal I/O modules or newer platforms offering LLMUX functionality.

Recommendation: For existing systems using CC-PAIM01, we recommend procuring spare units while available. For new installations, evaluate current Honeywell universal I/O platforms for LLMUX capability.
