DSM324I | FOUR DIGITAL SERVO AXES | BE REVISION

Emerson IC694DSM324-BE Four-Axis Motion Controller

A revision-specific multi-axis motion controller for PACSystems RX3i and Series 90-30 installations.

BrandEmerson / GE Fanuc
ModelIC694DSM324-BE
Product TypeDSM324i Four-Axis Digital Servo Motion Controller, BE Revision
01

Overview

IC694DSM324-BE is the BE hardware execution of the DSM324i multi-axis motion controller. It can control up to four alpha-i or beta-i digital servo axes over the FSSB interface and supports Standard and Follower control-loop modes.

The module combines motion programming, high-speed Local Logic and electronic CAM functions. The BE revision is part of the service identity; firmware, servo-amplifier chain, axis programs, I/O connectors and rack power budget must be preserved.

Features

01

Four-axis FSSB digital-servo control in one motion module.

02

High-speed Local Logic synchronized with the position-loop update.

03

Electronic CAM follower capability for coordinated motion profiles.

04

Nonvolatile motion-program and subroutine storage with field-upgradeable firmware.

04

Applications

  • Packaging, printing, converting and material-handling machines with coordinated servo axes.
  • Electronic-cam replacement of mechanical-cam functions.
  • RX3i or Series 90-30 systems using supported alpha-i or beta-i servo amplifiers and motors.
05

Lifecycle

  • Upload motion programs, CAM profiles, Local Logic, parameters and PLC configuration before shutdown.
  • Record IC694DSM324-BE firmware, rack slot, power supply, FSSB node order, servo-amplifier labels and fiber routing.
  • Inspect the 5 V and 24 V I/O connectors, encoder loads and protective-earth connection.
  • Commission one controlled axis function at a time, then validate synchronized motion, capture inputs, limits, home sequences and emergency stops.

FAQ

Why is the FSSB node order important when replacing IC694DSM324-BE?

Axis-to-amplifier assignment follows the engineered servo chain; a changed fiber route or node sequence can bind the wrong physical axis to the program.

What files should accompany an IC694DSM324-BE spare request?

Include the PLC project, DSM configuration, motion programs, CAM profiles, Local Logic, firmware record and servo-amplifier inventory.

How should the rack power budget be checked for IC694DSM324-BE?

Account for the module backplane demand plus any external encoder current and the actual number of DSM modules on the selected power supply.

When can firmware be changed during an IC694DSM324-BE exchange?

Only under a controlled compatibility plan that covers the BE hardware, PLC release, stored motion project and connected servo equipment.

What is the safest acceptance sequence for IC694DSM324-BE?

Verify configuration and limits with power restrained, prove each axis individually at low risk, then test coordinated motion, CAM behavior and all protective stops.
