Overview
CC-PCNT05 is the C300v5 controller at the heart of Honeywell Experion PKS. It operates the deterministic Control Execution Environment (CEE), executing process control strategies on a constant and predictable schedule.
The controller supports conventional C300 deployment, traditional 1:1 redundancy and Control HIVE architectures. Honeywell positions it for continuous, batch, advanced-control and smart-field-device integration applications.

Features
Embedded firewall and ISA Secure CSA Level 2 certification support a hardened controller architecture. A hardware-configurable security lock uses the device-index switches.
Supported integrations include CDA peer-to-peer, EtherNet/IP through EIM, FOUNDATION Fieldbus through FIM4/FIM8, Modbus/TCP through PCDI, Profibus through PGM, Profinet through EIM and VLAN-based I/O HIVE networking.
Honeywell documents enhanced processor performance, additional memory, configuration integrity through hardware and extended-temperature operation for remote or harsh locations.

Lifecycle
Honeywell launched PCNT05 in August 2021 as the enhanced C300 generation. It uses the same footprint as the earlier C300 CC-PCNT02 and introduces the CC-SCMB05 memory backup module.
Honeywell has announced CC-PCNT02 transition to legacy support by 2026 Q2, with off-process migration already available and heterogeneous on-process migration planned from Experion R540. Migration eligibility must be checked against the installed release and Honeywell guidance.

Does CC-PCNT05 support redundancy? Yes. Honeywell documents traditional 1:1 redundancy using a dedicated IOTA and Ethernet STP redundancy cable.
Which memory backup module is used? Honeywell specifies CC-SCMB05 for power-loss recovery.
Can it run a 20 ms execution period? No. Honeywell lists 50 ms as the standard period and states that 20 ms is not supported for PCNT05.
